Jessica & Zack | St Louis Forest Park

Tell us how you first met…

Zach and I first met as children when we were teammates on the St. Ann diving team. Zach is three years older than me and throughout childhood, three years is a big age difference. We were friends with people on the team who were our own ages and never really talked much. Years later, we met again at St. Ann pool, this time as co-workers. We continued to lead seperate lives – different high schools, friends, etc. The summer after I graduated high school, we finally became friends! We started hanging out with our “pool friends” – first every weekend, then every day. We would work together all day, then hang out all night. We started dating in June , even though Zach never officially asked me out! When reminiscing about the summer we started dating, we always get a good laugh – we both secretly were crushing on each other long before we started dating!

Tell us about the proposal…

After 6 years of dating, we finally were able to take our first trip to the beach together! Zach’s family planned a week long trip to Destin, Fl and we were both so excited. A few weeks before vacation Zach and I were eating dinner at Chimi’s, one of our favorite restaurants, and jokingly I said “Wouldn’t it be so great if you proposed to me on the beach?” We both laughed it off as if it would never happen and Zach showed no sign of actually planning a proposal. I had no idea that he had been working with a jeweler to find the perfect ring for me since last November! Our second night in Florida, Zach and I went to dinner together at Pompano Joe’s. It was a really fun restaurant on the beach, complete with a live band and sand volley ball courts. After dinner we headed back to the beach near the house we were staying at. We took a blanket and cooler full of drinks and hung out under the stars. We talked, laughed, and Zach popped the question! When we got back to the house, Zachs family was waiting with silly string and decorations. It was the perfect private proposal followed by a fun night of celebrating with family!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other! Don’t be shy!

My favorite thing about Zach is his uncontrollable energy. His excitement and passion about everything he does is something I admire! I love that he brings that same excitement to our relationship – there is never a dull moment! What I love about Jessica is being loved by her, she is the most kind hearted person! She keeps me grounded, is my best friend, and she believes in me.

Dawn and Sean were such a fun couple to hang out with and do engagement photos with. Besides them both being extremely photogenic they were full of fun and laughs too. They have a great story and shared it with you here along with a few photos from their session.

Tell us how you first met…
We first met working together. We thought we kept the secret pretty well until 6 months down the road when we decided to make it official and sign an agreement at work. Much to our surprise, everyone had already figured it out!

Tell us about the proposal…
I’ll start by saying I am extremely hard to surprise. Sean had to choose something I wouldn’t expect.. We went to his college’s alumni weekend and more specifically at an event at his fraternity house. I kept trying to walk around, but Sean asked that we listen to the band. The room started filling up, and I assumed everyone just happened to like the song the band was playing. They called Sean up to the stage and he proposed. Little did I know, everyone was in on it!

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other…
One thing we love most about each other is that we are both incredibly caring individuals. Whether it’s our love for our families, our dogs, friends, or each other, we’re extremely passionate about the things that are important to us!

I love this couple we battled the weather the day of their engagement session between humidity, heat and rain and even completely forgetting shoes…sorry Aubrie!  We made it work and had a great time and wonderful images.  I asked Aubrie and Brian a few questions to share some background of their relationship from both of their perspectives.

Tell us how you first met…

While I was in between my freshman and sophomore years of college, I was with my “big sister” from my sorority and we were visiting a mutual friend’s apartment for a small party. It was an upstairs apartment with outdoor stairs so when we arrived I saw two guys working underneath an ugly sports-car and I mentioned to her that I thought one of them was kind of cute; from a distance of course. We continued the night and I had a great time with my sisters and didn’t think much of it. As the semester passed we were briefly introduced and I guess he even came to a party I had, who knew? The week between Christmas and New Year’s Eve I had planned to visit my older sister in St. Louis whom I hadn’t seen since I was in middle school, understandably I was a little nervous. From our brief discussions I knew that this guy I had been introduced to was from St. Louis. I messaged him on Facebook and asked if there was anything I should see or do while I was there since I was likely going to be alone a few days during the week while my sister was working (but I didn’t tell him that). He said he would also be in town that week visiting his family and he volunteered to show me around. He took me first to the art museum. We hardly knew each other and we had to be both appropriately quiet and interested in the art when there was so much awkward in the air. Next we went to the science center and saw the Grossology exhibit which was about farts and other bodily functions, what a great ice-breaker. On New Year’s Eve I was with my sister at a bar and he texted me asking me where I was. I told him and about five minutes before midnight he walked in the door, I really didn’t expect him to come! My sister embarrassed me and told me he had a crush on me but I wasn’t really interested. Once we both returned to school in Michigan, I invited him to come with me and a few of my guy friends to the North American International Auto Show in Detroit since I knew he was into cars. He agreed to come and we really hit it off, a few weeks later we were dating, and it’s been love ever since.

Tell us about the proposal!

I had intended to propose to her in her favorite place, Charlevoix, MI in August when we were visiting family up there but things didn’t work due to the busyness of the weekend and unforeseen circumstances. The failure of that weekend in Michigan had me scrambling for a plan B as we wouldn’t be returning to Michigan again until December at the earliest. I had remembered our first date at the St. Louis Art Museum and how much our relationship had changed since that awkward day at the Art Museum and thought that as far as St. Louis goes, the Grand Basin on Art Hill would be the perfect place. The planning didn’t take long after deciding a spot. I felt anxious more than anything.

Tell us the one thing you love most about each other! Don’t be shy!

I love Brian’s intelligence. He knows so much about history, math, current events and even obscure topics. He is very resourceful and yearns to learn about everything; he has a beautiful mind. I love how selfless Aubrie is, not only to me but to complete strangers. I’ve seen her give to people she’s never met and will never see again.

Besides getting married, what is the one thing you are looking forward to on your wedding day?

We are looking forward to having a private moment alone together realizing the huge commitment we just made to work to love each other for our soul’s entire journey.

Jennie and Brandon met when they were just 16 years old when they were set up by friends, not knowing each other because they attended seperate schools. They dated for exactly 3 years before Brandon popped the question at the Melting Pot in Sy. Louis on their 3 year anniversary. Jennie told me how he had acted strange that entire night but Brandon mentioned that even though he was nervous he had been waiting for that perfect moment for a very long time.

According to Jennie, Brandon wears his heart on his sleeve and he would do anything for anyone without expecting anything in return and thats just one of the qualities about him that made her fall in love. Jennie’s personality is what strikes it home for Brandon. She’s always happy and does her best to make everyone else happy he says. But the one thing that they both look forward to on their wedding day is spending the day and sharing their day with the ones they love the most!

Check out some of their favorite images from their session at Tower Grove Park below.

Eric & Emily | St. Louis Engagement

— Posted on 07/23/15 by Chad Keffer

Eric and Emily selected us to be their St. Louis wedding photographers for their upcoming Halloween wedding! So let us tell you a little about this awesome couple! Eric and Emily first met in July of 2010 on a boating trip at Lake Kinkaid. Eric may have told a white lie about being from Nebraska to spark Emily’s hometown interest but it worked and he did eventually come clean 2 months later where he originally grew up. Emily decided she’d keep him anyway.

These two have been together for over 5 years now and have a 4 year old daughter together who is “over the moon” to be mommy and daddy’s flower girl! Before Eric proposed he spent months, days and hours of searching with countless calls and texts to family on friends to find the right ring for Emily, but he eventually found it. It wasn’t until 3 months later though that he decided to pop the question. Eric used poor judgement by carrying around this ring everywhere he went and even keeping it in the center console of his truck…good idea Eric! The prime opportunity eventually revealed itself to him at a high school graduation party of his cousins. Eric gathered aunts and even the graduate himself to get in on the proposal. During a group photo of people holding signs to congradulate the graduate, everyone flipped their sign to revel a hidden message meant for Emily that spelled out “Emily will you marry me?” Eric, holding their daughter Baleyn, emerged from the clapping crowd holding flowers and the ring. Teary eye’d Emily wiped away tears and makeup and said “YES”.

Emily describes Eric as the tough guy that wears his heart on his sleeve. Eric describes Emily as his rock and helps keep him grounded. They are clearly a balance for each other and look forward to their wedding day. This will be the first day that both sides of the family will meet and both Emily and Eric couldn’t be more excited!

We love Eric and Emily’s story and are even more excited to share a few of their engagement photos with you as well!

We also will be spreading the love by giving away a Family Session that you can enter to win by clicking the link here!
